Innisfail Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival, held on Saturday 11 October, is an afternoon and evening packed full of fun and excitement for all.

Beginning at 2.30pm the afternoon offers a variety of entertainment; On the main stage is a showcase of multicultural performances, including a Chinese Dragon dance, Hula dancing, Children’s indigenous dance group the Midi Midi dancers, Gypsy Rain Belly Dancers, Drumming displays and Salsa Dancing.
As well as the scheduled Children’s entertainment a Children’s Tent with free activities will run through out the festival as well as carnival rides by Wonderfair amusements, free face painting, arts and craft activities, jumping castles, Children’s Art Competition, youth stage and area, great food and stalls.
In the evening jazz band the Swinging Alley Catz will perform on the main stage with the kid’s entertainment continuing in the Children’s Tent featuring live children’s dance and music acts and free activities until 8.30pm when the sky will be filled with fireworks.

Be a part of Innisfail Royalty
This year marks 54 year of the Innisfail Harvest Festival and Green Ant is offering the chance once again to become a part of Innisfail Royalty.
The search is on again to find the 2008 Harvest Festival King, Queen, Prince and Princesses. We are looking for young people that are; passionate about living in our town, outgoing, confident and well spoken, that will represent our community for the next 12 months. The Prince and Princess category is open to Boys and Girls under 16 years of age, Young people 16 year olds and over are eligible for the title of Bundaberg Sugar Harvest King and Queen.
Entry to the competition is free and there are over $500 worth of great prizes courtesy of Bundaberg Sugar and our generous local businesses, prizes include White Water Rafting passes on the Tully River, Shopping vouchers from Farinelli Boutique and Magee’s Men’s Wear, a beautiful tiara from Girls Only and Movie Tickets from Birch Carol & Coyle Cinema’s to name but a few.
All Entrants will be introduced at the Innisfail Street Party on the 9 October. Judging will be held on Saturday afternoon the 11 October before the Harvest Festival. Entrants will then participate in the Grande Street parade at 5.30pm and the winners will be announced on stage at 6.30pm as part of the official opening of the festival.
To celebrate the 54 years the competition has been running, Green Ant Inc would like to hold a display at the Central Arcade featuring memorabilia from the past 54 years. We are look for any items of ding Photo’s, Dresses or Sashes that people would like to donate for use during the 2 weeks of the Innisfail Karnivale. If you have item’s of interest that you would like to be included in the display contact Katy on 0419 791 472. The Display will be open from the 3 October to the 19 October in the Central Arcade.
Become a part of local history nominate now to become this year’s Bundaberg Sugar Harvest King, Queen, Prince or Princess, nomination forms are available from Scott’s Florist, registration closes on the 20 September 2008.
Another way you can be a part of the festival is to volunteer. We are always looking for extra hands to help out. In the lead up to the festival we need volunteers to put up posters and displays and to be advocates for the festival and let everyone know about all of the great events that are planned. On the Harvest Festival Day we need lots of volunteers to help the day run well.
Volunteers are needed in the main tent to help keep performers on time, through out the festival liaising with stall holders and patrons of the festival, If you have a blue card and would like to help out we are also in need of volunteers to help run the children’s tent and youth stage area. If you would like to be a part of the festival by being a volunteer we would love to hear from you.
