Ergon Energy Innisfail Idol Thursday 9th October 2008
The Ergon Energy Innisfail Idol; now in its 5 year, the competition is becoming one of the most exciting singing competitions in the district. Each year the number of competitors is growing, along with the skills of the entrants, with many winners going on to perform through out the year at numerous community events.
The competition will this year be held on Thursday night, 9th October as party of the Innisfail Street Party. Starting at 6.30pm signers will compete in two sections to be announced the Junior Idol; for singers 12 and under with prize money of $100 and the Innisfail Idol; for competitors aged 13 to 18 years winning $300 in prize money. Singers from through out the Cassowary Coast are eligible to compete.
3 Judges will be on hand on the night to decide the winners and will also present encouragement awards for competitors they see potential in.
Last years winners will perform as part of the evening’s entertainment along with the Girls Only Children’s Fancy Dress Parade starting at 5.45pm, judging of the Best Dressed Business, fashion parade by local sewing students, introduction of the Bundaberg Sugar Harvest Queen and Princess entrants and Art Deco dancing display.
The Innisfail Street Party will be a great family night in the lead up to the Harvest Festival on Saturday 11th October where the winners from the Battle of the Bands and the Innisfail Idol will perform on the main stage for crowds of up to 10 000 people.
